How fees are set
Bebat — Single Belgian producer responsibility organisation for batteries, set up by the battery industry; registration and reporting run through the three regional governments.
Bebat is the single Belgian battery producer responsibility organisation. It charges two contributions of different nature, and which one applies is decided by weight rather than by regulatory category. The environmental contribution covers batteries up to and including 25 kg, lead-acid up to and including 5 kg, and energy storage modules in an installation up to 16 MWh; it pays for registration and reporting to the three regional governments, the financial guarantee, collection, sorting, processing, recycling, re-use and repurposing, and prevention and awareness. The administrative contribution applies above those thresholds and covers only registration, reporting and awareness — explicitly not the financial guarantee and not collection or treatment, which Bebat quotes individually because no uniform price is possible. Rates vary by chemical composition and weight; Bebat does not organise its table by the five categories of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. Participants also pay an annual flat-rate contribution of 60 EUR excl. VAT.
